Art-square
Art-square is located within a walking distance from the hotel. It is famous for Arkadi Severny monument. Arkadi Severny was a Soviet bard who was born in Ivanovo in 1939. Severny became famous in the 1960s for his songs which were often of a dissident and underground nature inspired by prison songs. Often his songs escaped the Soviet censor and home-made recordings were passed around person to person. This unusual monument to him was unveiled in 2010 and depicts him sat at a desk smoking a cigarette. Beside this monument, there is a metal sculpture of badgerer, which is popular with the citizens. Kids like to sit on it, take pictures, stroke its ears and nose for good luck. -
Museum of Ivanovo Chintz
The Museum of Ivanovo Chintz is located in what was once the mansion of its founder - the famous industrialist from Ivanovo Dmitri Burylin. Chintz is a type of cloth printed with patterns of various colours which Ivanovo became famous for making. This museum tells of the development of the whole textile trade in Ivanovo from its very beginnings to the present day. On display are some examples of the cloth produced as well as the tools and equipment used to make it. Works of the famous couturier Vyacheslav Zaitsev, who was born in Ivanovo, are exibited on the second floor. The museum is run as part of the Dmitri Burylin Ivanovo State Historical and Regional Museum. -
Transfiguration of the Saviour Eparchial Cathedral
The pretty Transfiguration of the Saviour Cathedral is the eparchial cathedral for the Ivanovo Metropolitanate. Work started on the cathedral in 1889 and was funded by a local factory owner. It was built in the Russian revival style and consecrated in 1893. The cathedral comprises a large elaborately decorated building topped with five small domes on tall tholobates. Attached to the front of the cathedral is a bell tower and the whole complex is surrounded by fencing with gates. The cathedral was closed in 1940 but reopened four years later in 1944, remaining open ever since. -
Tsvetaev Family House-Museum
The Tsvetatev Family House-Museum is located in the wooden house where the Tsvetatev family lived from 1853 to 1928. The first member of the family to live here was Vladimir Tsvataev - a priest who had four sons, all of whom grew up here. After Vladimir Tsvetaev's death the house was inherited by his eldest son Pyotr. Another son called Ivan was the father of the famous 20th century poet Marina Tsvetaeva. Inside personal items of the family are on display. -
Mikhail Frunze Monument
The revolutionary Mikhail Frunze has a special connection with Ivanovo as he was involved in the 72-day strike in Ivanovo-Voznesensk in 1905 and a member of its soviet. After the 1917 Revolution Frunze served as the first chairman of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk governorate committee of the Communist Party and became one of the most senior Soviet military leaders. This monument to him was unveiled in 1957.
